My sweet little boy!

Well, it's been a long, long time since I have blogged. Plenty on people told me this but taking care of two small children all day can be somewhat tiresome. I guess somewhat is an understatement. It is exhausting!! Anyway, I wanted to share some recent pics of my main man Davis for everybody to see. I lost my camera when I went home to my Mom's at Christmas so all the holiday pics are gone. While I am here I wanted to share a little Christmas miracle we received. On December 23rd I received a call from the kid's pediatrician that Davis' s PKU had come back positive for Cystic Fibrosis. He said that 2 tests had been run and both were positive but " Not to get upset just yet". He said that Davis needed to go to Atlanta and have a Sweat test which is the main kind of testing done to check for this disease. As you can imagine I had a small nervous breakdown. I was beside myself with worry. Luckily, the nurse at the MD office called and offered to get Davis an appt. on Christmas eve if we could make arrangement to go that quickly. Of course we agreed and on Christmas Eve, Shannon and I took Davis to Egelston Children's hospital in Atlanta. The staff at Egelston was very comforting and gave us lots of words of encouragement and hope. They even told us that had an early Christmas present for us. They were going to run the test results while we were there so we didn't have to wait until that evening to find out. After about an hour the lab tech came to us and said "Go home and have a Merry Christmas, I have no reason to call your pediatrician's office". This was music to our ears since she had told us when we arrived that the only time she calls in test results is if they are positive for the disease. We were so blessed and thankful to leave Atlanta with this wonderful news. God had heard our prayer. Later that afternoon our pediatrician's office called and told us that everything was fine and that he was a genetic carrier of the disease but did not have the disease itself. We were thankful. I have to say that it was a very eye opening experience for me. There were so many people at that hospital that day that were not going home with the same good news. People were bringing in wagons full of toys for the children at the hospital who would not be going home for Christmas. It touched me greatly to see this and I am so thankful for my Christmas miracle. I also want to thank my friend Candace. She came to the hospital and waited with Shannon and myself while Davis had the test and she waited with us for the results. I can't imagine how hard that was and I will never forget her for doing that for me. Love you Can Can!
