Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of year and one of my favorite holidays. It is definitely the kick start to the Christmas season. Every year I have always looked forward to Thanksgiving. Every year except this one. This is the first holiday without my father Terry. I have been dreading November 27 for weeks now. I have been playing different scenarios over and over in my mind of how the day would be without Daddy. Well the day is complete and the Davis family is still in one piece. We have a few less tears stored away but for the most part we are ok. Even though today was a really hard day it was also a great one. Any time that we get to spend time with our family, a blessing will come from it. My Daddy has been on my mind all day and at times I was sad when I thought of him and other times I was so happy. I thought of all the holidays I got to enjoy with him and how much he loved this time of year. I thought of Thanksgivings as a child when my family would start arguing over when we were going to put the Christmas tree up. I thought of all the Thanksgivings Daddy and I watched the movie The Godfather together. My mother and sister hated the movie but Daddy and I loved it. It was kind of a tradition for us to watch it together. It brings a tear to my eye to think of these memories but they also bring great joy. I have all these wonderful memories of Daddy. I also know I will have an eternity of great times with him in Heaven when we see each other again. That is the greatest comfort. Our separation is not permanent. We will have an eternity of Thanksgivings with him in Heaven. That is what I am most thankful for today. That I am a child of God and that I will see him again. I came across this verse the other day and it really touched me and I wanted to share it with you all.
Psalm 68:5 ...A Father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his Holy dwelling.
I felt a lot of comfort from this verse. I have read it almost everyday since and then I read verse 4 also.................
Psalm 68:4 Sing to God, sing praise to his name, extol him who rides on the clouds- his name is the Lord- and rejoice before him.
What an awesome verse. I do sing praise to his name! He is the Lord and I am so thankful for all the great memories he has gifted me with and the wonderful blessings he fills me with today on this Thanksgiving that I dreaded so much and every other day of the year. I hope everyone had a wonderful day with their friends and families. Keep them close to your hearts and cherish every memory you have with them. They are truly a gift from God.

My little fairy princess

My mother, sister, aunt and I went to Savannah this weekend for a little vacation. We had a really good time and it was great to get away for the weekend. I tried to take pictures in Savannah but no one wanted their picture taken and it rained for half of the trip. When I got home I was kind of sad that I didn't take any pics so I decided to dress Laura Katherine up in the present I brought her back from Savannah. I got this little fairy princess outfit at Home Goods. It was really cute on her and she loved it.

Laura Katherine's new tricycles

LK got these two new tricycles for her birthday from my friends Robin and Dawn and she loves them! They are perfect for her and luckily we got two of them so Emma wont be left out of the fun. She loves the fact that she can put her baby on the back and drive her around!

Our trip to Pine Mountain

We made our annual trip to Pine Mountain this weekend to enjoy the pretty fall trees. LK was a little under the weather but we still enjoyed the drive. I know the first pic is a little dark but I never post pics of Shannon and me together so I thought I would throw one in there. Lk wasn't really up to many pictures so I only posted one of her and her Daddy. It is such a blessing to live so close to Pine Mountain. It's only a 30 or 40 minute drive. It's like going to the mountains for the day.

Our trips to the park

It has been such a beautiful week this week. LK, Emma and I have made two trips to the park to feed the ducks. Our first trip was Tuesday. Emma her Mom Sherry and her sister Maddie met us at Cooper Creek park to play. Georgia schools were out Tuesday so Sherry got off work early and we took the girls to feed the ducks. They had a really good time!!! Emma, LK and I also went to the park yesterday. We shook things up and went to the park in Phenix City just for a change in scenery. They have a really nice park and the girls loved there play ground. All in all we have had a really fun week.
