Daddy

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day and she pointed out that she hasn't seen many pictures of Shannon on the blog. I started thinking and she is right!! Shannon is not a big picture person. He will take pictures all day but he doesn't care much for being in front of the camera. I thought I would share some pics of him with Lk and me. He really is a wonderful husband and father. I truly don't know what we would do without him. We love you Daddy!!!

Baby it's cold outside!!!

I don't know about you but that has been the most over used sentence in our house this week. LK and Emma have begged to go outside and play over and over and all I can come up with is "Baby, it's cold outside". I have always liked cold weather but this is a little cold even for me. The cabin fever is taking over!!!! I am looking forward to the warm up coming in the next few days so that my precious angels can run there little 2 year old hearts out. One positive thing about it is my house is as clean as it's ever been and I have learned to build a fire from scratch. That's right I made fire and without the assistance of the fire dept. Wow, who knew! Anyway, I can't wait for spring!

Check out this book

I wanted to share this book I just read with everyone. It's called "The Shack" by Wm. Paul Young. This is a great book. It's not too long so it shouldn't scare you busy Moms away and it's well worth the time. It has really helped me. It gave me a whole new understanding of the relationship between the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. It also reminded me of the perfect goodness of God and his true unconditional love for each and every one of us. I think I forget that sometimes. Anyway, it was great and if you read it and enjoy it or if you have already read it, give me a shout out. I would love to hear your opinion. www.theshackbook.com

I don't know about you but...........

it is only the 12th day of 2009 and I am already worn out!! I haven't blogged lately but I have had good reason. I am currently on my 3rd round of antibiotics for strep throat and Laura Katherine is getting over her 3rd run in with MRSA. We spent a lot of last week in the doctor's office, on the phone on hold with the doctor's office, or talking to the nurse practitioner at the doctor's office. It has been a roller coaster. I am praying that the rest of the year will be quiet, drama free and free of strep and MRSA. Anyway, hopefully we will have some fun this week and some pictures can be snapped. (I didn't think anyone would like to see pictures of the inside of the MD office so I refrained from grabbing my camera last week and taking pictures.) LOL. I guess I can safely say we haven't been bored this year.

January 7, 1952

January 7 is probably a very random day for most people in this world but it's pretty special to me. My Daddy would have been 57 years old today. I know people who read my blog on a regular basis are thinking' oh goodness Leah is talking about her Dad again' but I had to share some pictures of my Daddy from the last couple of years that are special to me. We didn't take many pictures of Daddy after he got sick because he changed so much. When he was healthy he was, in the words of his cousin Gary, "a robust mountain of a man". He was big and full of life. After he was diagnosed with his condition he went through major physical changes including an 80 pound weight loss. What I didn't realize at the time was that as his body was deteriorating his faith and love of God and family were growing. He traded physical health for mental and spiritual strength. Anyway, my Dad loved birthdays and he loved being fussed over so it wouldn't be right not to fuss over him even though he isn't with us on this special day. I am sure everyday in heaven is like the best birthday party you've ever had so I'm sure this is the best birthday ever for him. I just wanted to share this special day with everyone so it would be a little special to them too. Happy Birthday Daddy!!! I love you still.
