January 7, 1952
January 7 is probably a very random day for most people in this world but it's pretty special to me. My Daddy would have been 57 years old today. I know people who read my blog on a regular basis are thinking' oh goodness Leah is talking about her Dad again' but I had to share some pictures of my Daddy from the last couple of years that are special to me. We didn't take many pictures of Daddy after he got sick because he changed so much. When he was healthy he was, in the words of his cousin Gary, "a robust mountain of a man". He was big and full of life. After he was diagnosed with his condition he went through major physical changes including an 80 pound weight loss. What I didn't realize at the time was that as his body was deteriorating his faith and love of God and family were growing. He traded physical health for mental and spiritual strength. Anyway, my Dad loved birthdays and he loved being fussed over so it wouldn't be right not to fuss over him even though he isn't with us on this special day. I am sure everyday in heaven is like the best birthday party you've ever had so I'm sure this is the best birthday ever for him. I just wanted to share this special day with everyone so it would be a little special to them too. Happy Birthday Daddy!!! I love you still.

Happy Birthday Daddy! You SHOULD celebrate your dad. These pics are so sweet. I know you cherish those of he & LK.
Leah, I'm speachless! I love the pics of him. It is still so hard to believe he is gone. I think of him often and you, too. Happy B'day, Rat! I love you
Great pictures - make sure to save them to disks so you can have them for LK when she gets older.
