It's been a while!!!

It has been forever since I have blogged!!!! I have never gone this long before!!! We have had a little drama here at the Litton house. As many of my friends already know I have had migraine headaches for years. Since Daddy passed away my headaches have increased dramatically. Of course at first I was thinking the increase in the headaches was just the stress of everything we had been through. Well I had a doctor's appt. and we decided that the headaches were probably just stress but since we had never really pursued the root of my headaches then maybe we should do an MRI. I had the MRI and last Thursday I got the results. Well they weren't what I had hoped. The MRI said that I had a 6mm area near my pituitary gland that was suspicious. The MRI said it was either a cyst I was born with or a craniopharyngioma ( a benign tumor). Either way the MD said it would probably have to be removed because they can grow. Well of course with everything we had just been through with Daddy I immediately thought the worst. Those of you who know me well know that the glass can on occasion be half empty and not half full. Well for a day or so I frantically searched the internet learning everything I could about these two growths. Big mistake!!! I mean everything you read on the internet about illness is usually worst case scenario. Well by the weekend I had decided that on Sunday I was going to lay this problem at the feet of Jesus and I was going to walk away from it. So on Sunday Shannon and I went down to the altar during the invitation at church and prayed together. We both gave this situation to God and prayed that he would take it from us. I have to say I felt so much better after I did that I couldn't believe it!! Today I went to see Dr Goldman the neurosurgeon. He reviewed my MRI himself and said that he thinks that it is nothing but the way my brain is made up. He feels that it is neither the cyst or the tumor. He recommended a follow up MRI in three months to recheck it but he didn't think it was anything to worry about. We talked in detail with him and Shannon and I were both very comfortable with his diagnosis. Praise God!!!! We were so thankful!!! I praise my God for taking care of me and taking this problem from me. I know this was a long story but I wanted to share it with my friends. I have truly learned from this experience. I truly know now that it doesn't matter how much I worry, it doesn't change one thing. I have let worry and fear rule me for so long and I am so glad that I gave this problem to God and let him take care of it. I know that sometimes our prayers aren't answered the way we want them to be but sometimes they are answered better than we could have hoped. I know we are all works in progress and I wanted to share my experience with you all. ............... Thank you all for your prayers, e-mails, calls and words of encouragement.

Saturday at Adysen's House

We had a wonderful time Saturday playing with our friends at Adysen's house. The kids all had a blast and the Mom's enjoyed some fellowship together as well. I did learn something about myself Saturday and that is that I have camera envy. Yes, that's right. My friends Tammy and Nikki have really good cameras and mine is good but there's are like professionals. I was kinda bummed when I looked at my pics and alot of them were too blurry to put on the blog. I guess that's my fault for snapping too quickly.. Anyway, I had some cute shots of all the kids there but some of the them just didn't make it because of the blurry shots. All in all it was a great afternoon and LK and I can't wait to do it again. Thanks Tammy and Adysen for opening your home to us.

Friday Night at Dawn's House

We spent Friday night with my friend Dawn and her family. We had such a great time!!! Dawn and I have been friends since kindergarten. We grew up together and are still as close as sisters. Needless to say this is not the first Friday night I have spent with her!!! Dawn and I spent many weekends together as kids and of course teenagers but as weve gotten older we don't get to have those Friday nights together as often. Anyway, Shannon, LK and I made the trip to Auburn Friday night to spend some time with my special friend and her family. Dawn has two beautiful girls, Andie 5 and Alex 2 1/2. Alex and LK are only 7 months apart so they have a lot in common. Andie being the big sis took charge and entertained Alex and LK which was great for Dawn and me. We enjoyed our night with Dawn, Jay, Andie and Alex and we can't wait to do it again.....

My Best Friend

I just had to write a special blog for my friend Robin. September 9 is her birthday and I wanted everybody to know just how special she is to me. Robin and I have grown up together. Our parents became friends when we were too young to remember. Our families went on vacations together and we spent many Christmas's with them. I can honestly say that every memory I have in my life Robin is a part of. I can remember as children our parents would get together and we would plot the whole night about how we were going to talk our Mama's into letting us spend the night with each other. We also grew up in church together. We were baptized together in 1985. We were together through school programs, football games, proms, graduation, Panama City after graduation and then college. You guessed it, we lived together when we went to Auburn. We had so much fun and those memories at Auburn when Robin first met her husband John are some of the fondest memories I have. When we graduated from Auburn our families were all there together just like they had always been. Robin married John in 2000 and I was so happy for them. I'm sure people remember that I started crying at the reception and didn't stop until they left for their honeymoon!!! As the years past and I moved to Columbus, Robin and I still talked most everyday. When Robin gave birth to Emma Kate in 2002, I remember flying through my work day so I could leave Columbus and get to Montgomery before she was born. The years kept coming and we still stayed close. When I met my husband Shannon I don't think anyone was more happy for me than her. She was of course there with me when Shannon and I were married and she was there when Laura Katherine was born. " A little trivia" Laura Katherine and Emma Kate have the same birthday. How weird is that!!!
Even through the busy days of work and children we have managed to talk almost everyday. Some times multiple times a day. The past few months have been really hard on my family and Robin and her family have been right there with us feeling our pain and giving us support. Robin truly has been there through everything in my life and she was able to be with me when my father passed away in July. I can barely type right now for the tears but I wanted everyone to know how special my friend is and how special she and her family are to me. I love you Robin!! Happy 33rd Birthday!

A little country in the city

OK, the weirdest thing happened last week. The girls and I were playing in the living room when all of the sudden I saw a shadow come over the door. I looked out and there was this huge hawk at my front door. He was so big and beautiful. He landed with a mouse in his mouth and just sat there. Being city dwellers we did not know what to think. I mean we were amazed. All that stood between us and him was a glass door. LK and Emma were amazed. They tapped on the door to get his attention and he just sat there and stared at us. All I could think was I hope he doesn't think we want his mouse and attack the glass door. (You know us city people!! We don't do strange animals.) I mean this thing had 1 inch claws on it!!! (Shannon later corrected me and said they were talons) I don't care what they were all I could think of was our next door neighbor's teacup Chihuahua and how he could be that bird's next meal. Anyway, it was a little something different for our day so I had to share some of the pictures we made.

Laura Katherine and Seth

I am such a bad aunt! My nephew Seth came to visit Labor Day weekend and I have not blogged
one pic of LK and him playing. So here are some of them. They are all action shots. Those two will not sit still long enough to let me take a good pic. All though they aren't the best pictures in the world I cherish everyone of them. They are definitely best buddies.
